From Videographer to Marketing Director of a multi-site brand

My client came to me after moving into a new role in their business. They had done some video work for the business and were now moving into the strategy and planning for the business's marketing.

I worked alongside the client to help them maintain their creativity and to support them in the new role.

We met monthly and worked on building the marketing strategy and team and what that would look like, as well as putting personal creative work goals and more strategic business goals in place. As well as being a sounding board for ideas, I ensured that when the client made decisions about new areas, they were confident that they owned the decision and were happy to move forward and achieve goals.

Areas of growth for the client:

  • Confidence: they went from developing a department independently to employing staff across multiple sites to work cohesively across a marketing strategy.

  • Time management: as well as developing their own time management, they also put in place strategies to help the team to do so also.

  • Staff development: the key to the department's growth is staff development; the client learned to develop themselves to spot the team's strengths and when to give them additional support without micromanaging.

My passion is to ensure that anyone in a creative role doesn't let the role take over and forget how to develop their creative skills. The client went on to create some short films alongside his hectic role and learned to find their creative and physical passions in other areas of their life too.

Within 18 months, the client had developed a small multisite creative marketing team, that is going from strength to strength.

From Graphic Designer to Social Media Marketeer

My client came to me after moving jobs in a different creative field. They had left their design role after having experienced years of belittling and gaslighting from the creative director, which left them feeling like they were not good enough.

The new role required learning a new suite of marketing skills and doing some graphic design work to support this.

The client’s confidence was at rock bottom, there were significant work and life changes, and the client wanted to focus on the new role and get their confidence up to push forward.

We met monthly and worked on building that confidence by smashing small goals. By building resilience and finding the power and energy to tackle more significant things, the client moved forwards in giant leaps and now manages a small marketing team.

Areas of growth for the client:

  • Confidence: from having all their work picked apart constantly to having freedom and enjoying that freedom, they soon felt confident and owned their new role.

  • Personal development: with confidence came the desire to embark on training and personal development.

Once the client had gained confidence at work, all the issues at home started to sort themselves out; in a very short while, L felt excited about their new life at home and work.
